These Terms & Conditions apply to all diagnostic, repair, servicing, maintenance, inspection, coding, programming, and mobile mechanical services provided by Shane's Motor Services ("we", "us", "our").
By booking or allowing work to commence, you confirm full acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
All work is carried out at the customer's chosen location unless otherwise agreed.
The customer is responsible for ensuring the vehicle is in a safe, legal, and accessible location.
We reserve the right to refuse or stop work if conditions are unsafe, impractical, or present risk.
We are not liable for delays caused by access issues, weather, or customer-related delays.
Estimates are based on initial inspection and information provided.
Estimates may change if additional faults or issues are found during work.
Quotations are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.
After 30 days, prices and availability may change without notice.
Quotes are estimates unless confirmed in writing as fixed.
Diagnostic work is charged for time, expertise, and equipment used.
Diagnosis is a process of testing and elimination and does not guarantee fault identification within a fixed time.
Faults may be intermittent or not present during inspection.
If a fault cannot be reproduced, all time remains chargeable.
Multiple faults may require additional diagnostic time.
All bookings are subject to an initial call-out and diagnostic fee of £65.
This includes travel, setup, inspection, and up to one hour of diagnostic time.
Charges apply regardless of outcome, including where:
The fault cannot be reproduced
The issue is intermittent or absent
No fault is identified
The customer chooses not to proceed
Multiple issues may require additional diagnostic time.
Additional time is charged at £65 per hour.
All further work will be authorised before proceeding where possible.
You must provide accurate fault information.
Vehicles must be accessible and safe to work on.
Personal belongings must be removed before work begins.
We are not responsible for items left in vehicles.
We may supply parts or fit customer-supplied parts.
No warranty is provided on customer-supplied parts.
We are not liable for issues caused by customer-supplied parts.
Parts remain our property until fully paid.
Some parts require full or partial payment before ordering.
Special-order parts are non-refundable once ordered unless faulty or incorrect.
All workmanship is covered by a 12-month warranty.
Covers workmanship only, not parts or unrelated faults.
Warranty excludes:
Wear and tear
Pre-existing faults
Customer-supplied parts
Misuse or neglect
Third-party interference
Unrelated or new faults
Claims must be reported promptly before further work is carried out.
Does not affect statutory rights.
We are not responsible for pre-existing faults or vehicle condition before work begins.
Additional faults may become apparent during repair or diagnosis.
Non-start / non-runner vehicles cannot be fully tested before repair.
Not all faults may be identifiable until the vehicle is running.
Post-repair issues may be unrelated and treated separately.
All diagnostic and repair time remains chargeable regardless of outcome.
Vehicle systems are complex and interconnected.
Repairing one fault may reveal others.
ECU coding/programming is carried out at customer risk.
We are not liable for manufacturer restrictions or module failures.
We may road test vehicles where required.
Vehicles must be safe and legal to drive.
Unsafe vehicles will not be test driven.
Payment is due immediately upon receipt of invoice unless agreed in writing.
We may retain keys or vehicle access until payment is received.
Accepted payment methods: Cash, Card, Bank Transfer.
Late payment may incur additional charges.
Cancellations within 24 hours may be chargeable.
If we attend site, the call-out fee remains payable.
Special-order parts are non-refundable once ordered.
If we cannot contact you or approval is delayed, work may pause.
All time already spent remains chargeable.
Liability is limited to the value of work carried out.
We are not liable for:
Loss of income
Loss of use
Recovery costs
Indirect or consequential losses
We may refuse or stop work if:
Conditions are unsafe
Work is illegal or unreasonable
Abuse or threats occur
Repair is not feasible on-site
We are not liable for delays caused by events outside our control.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom and subject to the courts of England and Wales.
